The West Bank School of Music offers private lessons on a quarter- based system, but you can start your lessons at any time during the quarter. This means that students sign up for as many lessons as they think they will use during a quarter, whether they sign up at the very beginning, in the middle, or at the end of the quarter. Whenever you begin, the policy is that you are required to use all the lessons in your plan by the end of the quarter in which they are purchased.
  

The quarters are: Fall - Sept 1 to Nov 30 Winter – Dec 1 to Feb 28 Spring – March 1 to May 31 Summer – June 1 to Aug 31

WBSM can offer you lessons taught in your home.

To select the appropriate plan for each quarter, it is important that you take a moment to look at your calendar and speak with your instructor to decide which lesson plan will best fit your needs for each quarter.

You can purchase as many, or as few lessons as you want: once a week, every other week, or on an occasional basis. We will not offer discounts, however, for lessons taken on an occasional basis. The minimum number of lessons one can sign up for and receive a plan discount will be six. Here is a chart of the plans:

We offer installment payments to those who choose not to pay in full at the start of the quarter. For six or ten lesson plans, payment may be made in two equal installments. For 12 lesson plans, payment may be made in three equal installments.

Unused lessons will be forfeit at the end of each quarter unless unusual circumstances allow for an exception. Make-up lessons can be scheduled with your instructor and must take place in the same quarter that the lessons were purchased.

In-home Lessons
To help you with your busy schedule, WBSM offers in-home lessons as a convenient, time saving option. Our instructor will meet you at your home to teach either 45 or 60 minute lessons*. Our rates generally cover travel time within the Twin Cities and closer suburbs, but a surcharge might apply if travel time is excessive due to distance or time of day. If you sign up for ten lessons or more in a quarter, you receive a 5% discount, as reflected in the schedule below.

Installment plans of two payments of per quarter are available for 10 and 12 lesson plans, but not for the six pack. Payment and a signed registration form must be received by the WBSM office before starting any course of lessons.

*At this time, we cannot offer 1/2 hour in-home lessons unless special arrangements are made with permission of the instructor. Call us for details.

Tuition Assistance
New students with financial challenges can ask for a waiver of the one-time per household $15 registration fee for lessons. There is also tuition assistance through the Warren Park Scholarship Fund. Established in honor of West Bank School of Music founder, Warren Park, this new scholarship will help students demonstrating financial need pursue their passion for music. The scholarship will provide between 10-40% off each session’s tuition and will be granted as funds allow. Application deadlines are May 1, August 1, November 1 and February 1 for Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring quarters respectively. WBSM Policies
 • Registration Fee: $15 registration fee for lessons per family. The registration fee may be waived by prior request for those in financial need.
 • 24-hour Cancellation Notice: Students need to contact their instructor to cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged.
 • Trial Lessons: Trial lessons are available for $25 for 30 min, $35 for 45 min and $45 for 1 hr lessons.
 • Gift Certificates: Gift Certificates are available for 1, 4 or 12 lessons, and also for classes and workshops.
